Vegans strictly avoid the consumption of any forms of animal products. That includes honey, eggs, and animal products. According to the Vegan Society, veganism is a way of living, which seeks to exclude all forms of animal cruelty and exploitation for food, clothing, and other purposes. Many vegans not only apply these principles in their diet but also to other aspects of their life. They do not use leather goods, beeswax, and other products that involve animal testing.

Veganism Vs Vegetarianism: Health Benefits

There is no doubt that both vegetarianism and veganism offer a lot of health benefits. In 2017, researchers looked at the effect of a plant-based diet on 49 adults. The participants were overweight and had some health disorders like hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and high cholesterol.

The participants were randomly assigned with a normal diet or low fat, plant-based diet program. After 12 months of study, researchers found that the body mass index and cholesterol levels are lower in the participants who are in the diet group when compared to those in the normal diet plan.

Another study in the year 2019, showed that a plant-based diet has several cardiovascular benefits. A plant-based diet will help in controlling the blood sugar level, reduce inflammation and oxidative stress, improve blood flow, and reduce the risk of atherosclerosis.

Veganism Vs Vegetarianism: Which Is Healthier?

Both veganism and vegetarianism provide similar health benefits. One of the advantages of a vegetarian diet is that you will get more calcium, vitamin D, and phosphorous, which comes mainly from dairy products. However, avoiding dairy products also keep cholesterol levels down.
